1st Cameron State Bank began serving the Cameron community from a small house located between the present day 1st Cameron State Bank main bank facility and the Cameron Coop in 1965 as Cameron State Bank. The Cameron State Bank was started as a community effort. There were 130 stockholders, all Cameron residents, who felt that the area needed more than one commercial bank. The original directors of Cameron State Bank were: Robert Keatly, Melvin Griffin, Leo Farnan, Lloyd Bacon, Robert McKee and W.W. "Bill" Beckett. The present facility located at 124 S. Walnut opened on April 1, 1965. The bank was purchased in 1971 by Sam Davis, a major stockholder. In March 1974, it was sold to Charles R. Adamson and John C. Clark. On August 6, 1986, the Cameron State Bank changed charters to a Federal Savings Bank, becoming Missouri Federal Savings Bank. In October of 1997, a branch facility was opened at the North end of Cameron, between Wal-Mart and the Missouri Correctional Facilities. This added the convenience of two full service banks in Cameron. June 2009 brought another change for the bank. The Board of Directors decided it would benefit their customers, in light of the changing economic setting, to go back to a State of Missouri chartered bank. Now 1st Cameron State Bank carries on the tradition of a small, local bank being here to help area residents with the quality service you’ve come to expect from us.
