How We Protect You From Identity Theft
1st Cameron State Bank maintains a website for your convenience so you can easily access information about your accounts as well as our products and services and about us, too. We put a combination of safeguards in place to protect our customers.
The privacy of communications between you (your browser) and our servers is ensured via encryption. Encryption scrambles messages exchanged between your browser and our online banking server.
How Encryption Works
When visiting online banking’s sign-on page, your browser establishes a secure session with our server. The secure session is established using a protocol called Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Encryption. This protocol requires the exchange of what are called public and private keys. Keys are random numbers chosen for that session and are only known between your browser and our server. Once keys are exchanged, your browser will use the numbers to scramble (encrypt) the messages sent between your browser and our server. Both sides require the keys because they need to descramble (decrypt) messages received. The SSL protocol assures privacy, but also ensures no other website can “impersonate” the bank’s website, nor alter information sent. To verify whether your browser is in secure mode, look for the secured lock symbol (often a padlock) at the bottom or top of your browser.
Account Lockout Feature
We prevent thieves from guessing your password with an account lockout feature. Our online banking system will automatically lock a user out when an incorrect password is entered multiple consecutive times.
Online banking sessions have a time limit for inactivity. If you logged in but left your computer or haven’t been active in your online banking session for several minutes, the system will automatically log you out in order to prevent anyone else from accessing your account.
Verify Website Security
The Bank maintains a current website certificate for its secured Internet banking system. You can verify the certificate by clicking on the VeriSign Secured icon on the login page.
Enhanced Login Security
1st Cameron State Bank offers Enhanced Login Security as a free service to help prevent unauthorized access to your account and secure financial information. When added to your computer, Enhanced Login Security will allow the bank to recognize you as the true owner of our account by recognizing not only your login information but also your computer. If we don’t recognize your computer, we will request additional information that is known by only you, to ensure authorized access.
